ASIST is a two day face to face workshop for everyone, both professionals and non-professionals.
Summary:
2 day workshop learning to recognize signs, provide a safe space for an intervention and develop a safety plan through the use of audiovisuals, discussion and simulations to instill confidence in participants. The workshop is delivered by two registered, skilled facilitators who will deliver and guide participants through ensuring comfort and safety.
The interactive workshop focuses on developing the following skills:
Understanding the impact of our attitudes toward and experiences with suicide
Provision of suicide first-aid to the person with thoughts of suicide
Confidence to have difficult and confronting conversations
Explore and meet the needs of a person with thoughts of suicide
Identifying and understanding the key elements of a safety plan
Understanding our own boundaries and responsibility
Integrating community supports
